The Bak̓ʷəmk̓ala Language group has existed in Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ territory for over three decades. In those decades it has supported language learning in many capacities in many different spaces.

In 2025, Bak̓ʷəmk̓ala Language Society was created to continue to support language learning within the Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ territory as well as support the 5-year Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ Language Plan. Through research and consultation within the Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ community the Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ Language Plan was created and presented to community and set to be enacted between 2025 and 2030. At this time there are many working parts to the language plan that are in motion with room for more folks to become involved.

The Bak̓ʷəmk̓ala Language Society had their inaugural meeting on October 19, 2026. At this time membership is open to folks who would like to be involved.

The Bak̓ʷəmk̓ala Language Society aspires to be a place where people can become connected in language learning, support the work of language revitalization, and uplift those who are actively engaging in the revitalization of Bak̓ʷəmk̓ala.
